Momo Nakao

Momo Nakao became the third and final signing of the 2025 January window, joining Emma Westin and Abi Harrison in making the move to Celtic.

The Japanese midfielder signed a deal until the summer of 2026, and chose to dawn the famous number 25 shirt – once worn by another Japanese Celt, Shunsuke Nakamura.

Nakao adds another option to Elena Sadiku’s midfield and brings plenty of technical ability in the centre of the pitch.

Having initial come through the Academy with JEF United Chiba Women in her homeland, Nakao made the move to the US to pursue a collegiate career with the University of Memphis.

She also brings international experience to the Hoops, having represented her country at U16, U17 and U19s, which also included an appearance at the U17s World Cup in Uruguay in 2018.
