Hyunjun Yang

Celtic signed the highly-rated South Korean player, Hyunjun Yang, on a five-year deal, in July 2023.

The 22-year-old attacker, who was the K League Young Player of the Year in 2022, signed from Gangwon FC after featuring over 60 times and scoring 9 times for the K League club.

The winger made his Hoops debut in a 4–2 win against Ross County on 5 August and scored his first goal for the club in a 6–0 win over Aberdeen on 12 November, helping the squad to a League and Scottish Cup double in 2023/24. 

Brendan Rodgers said: “We’re delighted to bring Yang to the club and I’m sure he’s going to be another great addition to the squad."

"He’s a player that we’ve looked at closely and who we think will further enhance our attacking options."

Yang said: “This is a move that I wanted to make and so it is great to be here in Scotland now as a Celtic player."

Having been capped several times by the South Korean under-23s, Yang represented the senior South Korean national team at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, coming on twice as a substitute against Australia and Jordan.
