It was a dramatic three points for Celtic FC Women on Friday evening, who sealed a 1-0 win in late fashion against Motherwell.

After a frustrating evening in Kirkintilloch, it looked like the Ghirls were going to be made to share the spoils.

However, a stoppage time goal from Shannon McGregor made sure all three points would be coming Celtic’s way.

That goal maintained the Hoops’ winning start to the season, making it six wins from six in domestic action so far this campaign.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of the match, Celtic boss Grant Scott was relieved to see his side come away with another important three points.

Scott praised the group for their never-say-die attitude, and the togetherness to fight until the end to get the three points over the line.

He said: “Obviously a lot of relief. Proud of the players for keeping going. It was ugly at times, we didn't play well today.

“And a bit of credit to Motherwell for the way they set up to contain us. We've got to find better ways during the game.

"But, instinctively, it's just relief. It's another three points on the board, another win, another clean sheet. So we'll take those bits as positives.

‘It's a big factor and it's something that we're trying to build in this group.’

“Obviously, a lot of new players and getting everyone to buy into the same ethos and make sure that we never, ever give in at any point.

“And we've seen it in the last few weeks where we've not played well and we've had to battle through and, you know, things aren't quite clicking for us in the right areas of the pitch at the minute.

“But when we've got that guts, that determination, the character, the togetherness in the group to kind of eek one out again today is really, really commendable from them."
