Celtic are delighted to announce that Colby Donovan has signed a new long-term deal which will see him remain at the club until the summer of 2031.

The defender, who turned 20 last month, is a graduate of the Celtic Youth Academy, having progressed all the way through the Academy to become a first-team player.

He made his debut in August 2025 in a 3-0 league won over Livingston at Celtic Park, coming on as a substitute late in the game.

And his first start for the Hoops came the following month in a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

Last season, he made a total of 27 appearances – 15 starts and 12 substitute appearances – playing his part in helping Celtic secure a dramatic league title triumph.

This season, he’s made 17 appearances – 15 starts and two substitute appearances – and his performances saw him rewarded with his first call-up to the Scotland squad during the recent schedule of international fixtures.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill said: “Colby extending his contract with the club is fantastic news for us. Although still a very young player, he has shown such maturity, strength and resilience. In fact, he has been exceptional for us.

“He has come in when we needed him, given everything for our cause and shown what a quality player he is. “He is a young man with a tremendous attitude and with a recent international call-up as well, he has had a phenomenal few months.

“I know the love Colby has for the club and I know what signing this deal means to him and his family.

“I am sure that he will continue to progress and enjoy a very big future in the game, and I am so pleased that he sees his long-term future at Celtic.”
