Celtic FC Women marked their return to action with three points as the Ghirls ran out 6-0 winners against Aberdeen.

It was an emphatic performance from the Hoops, who hit the Dons for six on their travels to the Balmoral Stadium.

After racing into a two-goal lead, Grant Scott’s side added four second half goals as they returned from the international break with style.

Speaking after the match, Scott was delighted with his squad’s display, with the Hoops showcasing their threat right from the off.

He said: “Delighted with that performance. We came with the objective of getting the three points and we've managed to do that quite comfortably today. So, all in all, delighted with the performance.

“We asked the players at halftime to be a wee bit more. We were intentional about what we were doing first 10 minutes of that half.

“We felt if we got another one early we'd maybe get a couple and just you know take any chance of any come back if you want to say from Aberdeen.

“We just made sure we were on the front foot right for the first whistle, and I thought we did that well to get the goals and were comfortable in the game.

‘You could see the players settling in, growing into the game a bit.’

“We made a lot of changes in the second half and probably disrupted the rhythm a little bit, but I think the players need to do better with that.

“I've said that to them at the end. But, yeah, I think you saw good signs of a team growing through the game.”
