Johnston believes the atmosphere inside Celtic Park played a big part and says the players will need to carry that same energy into the final weeks of the campaign.

The defender said: “It’s about winning football matches, and that’s something we’ve really focused on since Martin’s came in.

“The football hasn’t always been perfect, but the lads are finding ways to win football matches, and that’s kept us in this league and kept us in the cup as well.

“It was amazing. We had the whole crowd behind us, you felt the energy, and it was noticeable to every single person in the ground that it was a special atmosphere.

“The players fed off it, and that’s something we’re going to need for this next month.”

Now, attention turns to Easter Road, where Celtic face Hibernian in another key fixture in the title race.

And while Johnston knows Sunday’s opponents will provide a tough test, he says the players remain focused on controlling what they can control.

The Canadian said: “We’re really in the mindset of taking it day by day, match by match, and seeing where that goes.”

“We’re almost at the finish line, but there’s no reason why we can’t go out there and control this by winning every single match.

“If we take care of our business, then we’re going to leave ourselves a really good chance.

“Hibs is not an easy match by any stretch of the imagination. Easter Road is always a really difficult place to go, and they’re desperate for points as well.

“But we know if we go over there and play our game, we’re going to give ourselves a great chance.”
