The celebration of the 60^th anniversary of Celtic’s European Cup-winning achievement is now getting underway, and an event today (Friday) in Lisbon shows just how much the stadium where the trophy was lifted has become part of the green and white fabric of Celtic’s history

Lisbon Lion, Jim Craig and Celtic chairman and club historian, Brian Wilson made the trip to Lisbon and teamed up with former Portuguese Celt, Jorge Cadete to mark another special occasion in Celtic’s endearing Lisbon story.

Today, the Portuguese Institute for Sport and Youth, through the National Sports Museum, in the access tunnel to the National Stadium, opened the exhibition "From Glasgow to Glory – Celtic's 1967 European Triumph in Jamor, Lisbon" (History of a Victory – The Lisbon Lions), dedicated to Celtic’s memorable European Cup triumph at Lisbon's National Stadium on May 25, 1967.

Jim Craig said: “I've been amazed to see it installed in the first place.

“I think they've done a remarkable job, and I haven't found a fault in it so far, so I'm trying my best to find some, but no there's a mention of everything except my penalty, of course, but we won't go into that

“Jock Stein, Billy McNeill, all the team there as well it's been a remarkable display.”

Brian Wilson added: “It's amazing and this will always be a place of pilgrimage for Celtic supporters, and it's passed on from one generation to the next.

“I think the really remarkable thing about that, the really pleasing thing, is that it's remembered in Lisbon as well as in Glasgow and the fact that the Portuguese, the local historians of football and of sport, they have recognised it as being so important and they've gone to so much trouble.

“When Celtic supporters do come here then they're not just entering the stadium but they're also seeing the story told and you know for the generations that come it's so important that the story continues to be told.”
