Stewart added: “With Scotland qualifying for the World Cup, we wanted to mark this historic achievement in a way that felt truly Scottish.

"Inspired by The Proclaimers’ famous anthem, we thought, if they can walk 500 miles and 500 more, why can’t we? Just as the Tartan Army would travel any distance to support the lads and watch their games, we’re committing to 1,000 miles in honour of Scotland and their achievements.

“This challenge is about more than football. It’s also a way for us to stay active through the winter months, when the dark nights make it all too easy to sit on the couch.

"As we’re both getting older, we know how important it is to keep moving, not just for our physical health, but for our mental wellbeing too. Covering these miles gives us purpose, keeps us fit and lifts our spirits. And through our efforts we’re aiming to raise money for two wonderful charities, to support the amazing work that they do.”
