James Forrest is the most experienced player in the Celtic squad, and that experience could prove invaluable over the next few weeks as the Hoops target a league and cup double.

Indeed, it already has as the 32-year-old has scored three goals in the last two games – a strike in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden, and then both goals in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

And the winger, who has now scored 107 goals in 491 appearances for Celtic, is relishing the run-in to the season and the chance to play his part for the team, starting with this afternoon's home game against Hearts.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV for the matchday show, Forrest said: “As a Celtic player, in every game there’s always so much pressure and as an attacking player, whether you start or come on, you’re always expected to do something.

'So I’ve been delighted with the impact lately and hopefully I can carry that on in the remaining games.'

“I think we’ve got a good balance in the squad between new players, players who’ve been here the past couple of years and who’ve had a lot of success, and players who’ve been here for even longer.

“So I do think it is a good balance and everyone’s raring to go in these last few games.

“We know how Hearts have played in the past couple of games so we just need to make sure we turn up and focus on ourselves, be positive and hopefully get the three points.”
