As part of the International Women’s Day 2024 celebrations, Celtic FC Women captain Kelly Clark was one of six guests who participated in a special event at Glasgow City Chambers on Tuesday evening.

Joined by representatives from the SWPL, as well as fellow Glasgow clubs, Partick Thistle, Glasgow City and Rangers at ‘The Future of Women’s Football’ panel, Clark took part in a discussion and Q&A session at the sold out event with supporters, staff, and players coming together to listen to the stories of inspirational figures from across the game.

Speaking about topics such as her journey into football, the growth of the game in recent years, and what can be done to continue that improvement, the Celtic skipper played her part in an extremely informative evening with excellent questions and discussion throughout.

Reflecting on the night in her closing remarks, Clark spoke on the openness of Women’s Football in Scotland, and about how the possibilities are limitless as the game continues to grow from strength to strength.

She said: “I think the big thing for me is that like every single player in the league, we are very open. We want the best for the future of Women’s Football.

“I really hope that you can see from our point of view that we are really open to anything that can make Women’s Football in Scotland better.

'Listening to everyone, including us as players, we do anything we can and have done for 10/15 years now to try and make this game better.'

“I think from the fans' side, having that exact same openness of what can you do? Whether it’s encouraging a class of 30 kids to come along because that is potentially massive.

“If they come along and love it, get the fan engagement that they get with the players after the game, then you might have 10 of them coming back. But they then bring their parents, and it builds from there.

“So it doesn’t matter how small you think it is, if it’s something that can improve the Women’s game then we are open. Everyone should be open to trying as well.
