When Shannon McGregor left Hibernian to become Elena Sadiku’s first signing for the new season, the midfielder knew she was joining a competitive team with competition for all places in the side.

You can take that as a given when you join the champions, but that has increased even more so in the Celtic FC Women’s camp with the addition of defender Amy Richardson joining after a spell with Everton, twins Signe and Mathilde Carstens arriving from Fortuna Hjørring, and Portuguese defender, Bruna Lourenço also joining the club.

The 24-yeard-old said: “I like to play either the 8, 10 or 6, but that doesn’t really bother me, as long as I’m playing.

‘Coming to Celtic I know I’ve got competition, and I’m looking forward to that competition.’

“I’m extremely excited, I’ve grown up as a Celtic fan my whole life, so I’m really looking forward to it.

“The league win was a huge thing that I would love to do with this club and continue to do that, and also the Champions League as well.

“I can’t wait for that, I’ve experienced that at Hibs, I know what it feels like and I can’t wait to get that feeling again. It’s something you always want to do in a football career, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
