Celtic will conclude their pre-season tour of the US with a game against Chelsea tonight (Saturday) at the home of the Fighting Irish.

The Notre Dame Stadium, the home field of the University of Notre Dame’s American Football team, will host its second ever ‘soccer’ match when the green and white Hoops take on the blue of Chelsea.

And the Fighting Irish is the moniker of the university’s sports teams.

Tonight, it will be a soccer team with strong Irish roots and connections who will take to the field in South Bend, Indiana, aiming to sign off their trip with another win, following victories over DC United and Manchester City.

Speaking ahead of the game, Celtic’s American international defender, Cameron Carter-Vickers said: “It’s my first time here at Notre Dame, and here in Indiana as well. All the facilities here are amazing and I’m looking forward to the game.

'I joined up with the team a couple of days before our game against DC United, and we’ve had two good games so far.'

“It’s always good to be out here and I think the support has been good, and hopefully that will continue tonight.

“Right from when we first got here in Washington, when you walked around the city you’d see green and white shirts, and that’s been the same everywhere we’ve went – in North Carolina and now here.

“It’s definitely a great feeling for us and we just want to go out there and perform in front of the fans and hopefully send them home happy.”
