As Celtic's pre-season continues in the USA, Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers has spoken to Celtic TV about how much he is looking forward to this weekend's match against DC United.

The Scottish champions have been training at the impressive George Mason University, and as work progresses on the training ground, away from the pitch the Celts have added yet more quality to the first team squad.

Denmark's No.1, Kasper Schmeichel, is set to meet his new teammates over the next few days and the Celtic manager has spoken of his delight at the signing.

"First and foremost, he's a top-class goalkeeper," he said. "He's one of the most driven players I've ever worked with in my career.

"I know what his qualities are from a football perspective.

"But I also know Kasper as a person and he's a great guy. He has experience, he's charismatic and he'll be able to support the group.

'I'm really happy to bring someone of Kasper's quality in to the football club.'

"I've also said to him that this will be one of the best experiences of his life, coming to a club this size. I know that he will absolutely love this club."

The Celts take on DC United this weekend at Audi Field, and Brendan is looking for his players to continue building their match fitness as season 2024/25 draws closer.

"I'm really looking forward to going to the stadium," he said. "It looks like a really nice venue.

"We're stepping up each pre-season game. It's another step forward in our match fitness.

"Our main aim is getting to the Kilmarnock game in a really good place physically."

Celtic TV is the only way to watch the three upcoming USA pre-season matches, which include matches against Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea.
