It has been over a month since the Ghirls were last in league action at the Excelsior Stadium. However, that wait will come to an end this weekend.

After making their return from the recent winter break last weekend, the Hoops will be switching their focus back to league duties as they prepare to welcome Montrose to Airdrie this Sunday.

Following their three-week absence from the competitive action, it was a triumphant return for the squad who sealed their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup with a 7-0 win over Ayr United.

Amy Gallacher played her part in that victory, scoring two goals either side of the half, maintaining her terrific form in front of goal this campaign.

Speaking to Celtic TV to preview this weekend’s match against Montrose, the forward looked back at last week’s performance, expressing her delight at being back amongst the goals and on the pitch once more.

However, the focus of Gallacher and her team-mates has swiftly changed to the SWPL action as they look to return to winnings way in the league on Sunday.

She said: “It was a good week. It was good to get back training and a good performance from the team as a whole against Ayr United in the Scottish Cup.

“We managed to get a few goals, and there was a few goal scorers as well. So it was a good performance overall.

‘I think it’s always good personally to get a good start after the Christmas break.’

"It was good to get the legs going and get together as a team again. But we’re back to league business now and it’s important we get a good performance on Sunday.”
