Around nine months after lifting the Glasgow Cup in 2023, Celtic FC B kick-started their Glasgow Cup campaign with an impressive victory as they look to defend their trophy.

Having defeated Rangers in the final at Ibrox in May of last year, the Bhoys’ first game in the competition of 2024 was against the same opposition.

Last campaign, the young Celts enjoyed success against their Glasgow rivals, winning in every match between the two sides, and they continued that run in the derby with another victory at Lennoxtown.

Coming away 3-0 winners, it was an impressive display from the Hoops as Daniel Cummings, Ben Quinn and Jude Bonnar fired Celtic to victory.

Speaking in the aftermath of the result, B Team coach Darren O’Dea was left delighted with his side’s all-round performance.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the performance. From the first minute to last, we were excellent in both parts of the game.

“Naturally, I think people’s eyes will go to some of the quality in possession and some of the goals we scored were outstanding.

'But the basis of everything that we do is how aggressive we are against the ball, and we were outstanding.'

“Constantly, every time we lost the ball the aggression and the will to win it back was there. That gave us complete control for the majority of the game.

“And then when the moments came when we maybe had to defend our box, our defenders and our midfielders did really, really well including our goalkeeper.

“So from Josh Clarke, right up to the top of the pitch, every player put in a big, big performance and got a thoroughly deserved result.”

Wednesday afternoon’s match was the young Hoops’ 36^th of campaign so far, entering their fifth competition of the season.
