Celtic FC Women made it 10 wins from 10 domestic games this season after defeating Motherwell 6-0 at the Excelsior Stadium.

Following Thursday evening’s heroic late win over Glasgow City, the Celts were aiming to continue their perfect start to the new campaign on Sunday afternoon.

And they did exactly that, putting in an emphatic performance as braces from Amy Gallacher and Kit Loferski, as well as another strike from Chloe Craig sent the Hoops into the break with a five-goal lead.

A second-half goal from substitute, Tiree Burchill rounded off another good afternoon for Fran Alonso’s side, who maintained their lead at the top of the SWPL.

After early chances for both Amy Gallacher and Kit Loferski, the strike duo didn’t take long to get on the scoresheet as Gallacher grabbed the first goal of the game on 13 minutes.

Following some good work down the left, Shen Menglu found the striker with her cutback and the Celtic No.7 made no mistake with her finish.

Just four minutes late, the Hoops doubled their lead in similar fashion. This time, on the right-hand side, Natalie Ross found Kit Loferski in space, and the American was able to grab her first of two goals.

And in the 22nd minute, Chloe Craig made it 3-0 to the Hoops, rising highest from a corner into the box and nodding the ball into the back of the net.

After making an impressive start to the game, the Hoops didn’t let up in their performance and added a further two goals before the break.

Grabbing the first of two braces for the afternoon, Loferski showcased more fantastic composure to tuck the ball past the Motherwell goalkeeper.

And just before half-time, Gallacher followed the American in scoring her second of the match to round off a five-star first-half performance.

Winning the ball back high up the park, the 24-year-old calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Fran Alonso was able to ring the changes at the break as he introduced Clare Goldie, Jenny Smith and Tiree Burchill to the match.

And Burchill quickly got in on the goalscoring act as she grabbed the sixth goal of the afternoon.

Picking up the ball on the right-hand side of the penalty area, the youngster powered a low strike towards goal, which bounced off both posts, before nestling in the bottom corner.

With all three points wrapped up, the Hoops boss was able to introduce a few youngsters to the match, with the likes of Maisy Stewart and Sophie Timlin coming on to make their senior debuts.

Although a few more Academy players entered the fray, that didn’t mean the Hoop’ performance let up, as Kelly Clark and Chloe Craig came close on two occasions to scoring, striking the crossbar with efforts from set-pieces.

Next up for the Hoops is more league action a week today (Sunday) as they make the short trip to take on Partick Thistle.
