Celtic FC Women’s manager Fran Alonso praised his squad for their concentration levels as the Ghirls put in another impressive performance on the road as they defeated Hamilton Accies on Sunday.

After finding themselves 2-0 up at half time thanks to goals from Caitlin Hayes and Amy Gallacher, the Celts continued to push for more heading into the second half.

More goals quickly came their way as Chloe Craig tucked the ball home from the spot, before substitutes, Imane Addi and Celya Barclais added to the scoresheet to seal a 5-0 victory.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Spaniard was left pleased with the level of performance from his squad throughout.

Although Alonso thought his side could have been a little more clinical at times, he was still delighted to be coming away with another three points.

He said: “I thought that we were excellent. The concentration levels were superb from the beginning of the match.

“We knew that we couldn’t underestimate our opponents, and I don’t think we did that. We were intense from the start and our decision making was superb.

“The only thing small point was that in the final third, I thought we could have been a little bit better. We had a lot of chances.

'But scoring five goals, against a very well organised team defensively is quite impressive.'

“So overall I think it was a very good day for us, and we are now three games until the end of the year. Hopefully we can carry on playing at this level because the girls are doing very well.”

Five goals in South Lanarkshire took the Hoops’ total league tally for the season so far to 60 as the Ghirls continued to flourish in front of goal.
