Celtic FC Women returned to winning ways in the SWPL this afternoon (Sunday) after defeating Dundee United on the road.

A composed first-half strike from Imane Addi gave the Hoops the lead, before all three points were wrapped up in the second 45 minutes thanks to Tiree Burchill.

Celtic were dominant in the match right from the off, enjoying the vast majority of possession without really testing the Dundee United keeper.

Fran Alonso's side looked to threaten from a number of set-pieces, with Sydney Cummings aiming to cause trouble for the home defence but United continue to restrict the Hoops frontline as best they could.

However, they managed to get the breakthrough on 23 minutes as Imane Addi opened the scoring.

A pass in behind the United defence found Murphy Agnew, who laid the ball to Moroccan, who tucked the ball under the on-rushing goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

The Celts continued to push to create more openings in the first 45 minutes, with Natalie Ross seeing an effort from range go just past the post.

Just before the break, Imane Addi came close to scoring her and Celtic’s second of the match after cutting in from the left, but the ball went narrowly over the crossbar.

The Hoops’ dominance continued into the second half and Fran Alonso’s side quickly looked to try and double their advantage.

Both Natalie Ross and Chloe Craig tried their luck early in the half, while Jenny Smith came close with a shot from the edge of the area which was saved.

The second goal eventually came with around 20 minutes remaining as Tiree Burchill ensured that all three points would be coming back to Glasgow.

After working some space, Chloe Craig looked to try her luck with another long-range effort which took a deflection off Burchill and landed in the back of the net to make it 2-0.

Next up for Fran Alonso and his squad is another big match as they take on Glasgow City at the Excelsior Stadium this Friday evening (November 10) in the quarter-finals of the Sky Sports Cup.
