Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “It’s always a special place playing at Celtic Park in front of your own fans.

'It will be nice to have a full house and we want to try and give something back.'

“We know we underperformed last week so for us it’s about correcting that.

“Stephen’s done a brilliant job with his staff and they’ve been difficult games to get results in. It will be the same as they’re very well-organised and we’ve played them enough times to know what they’re about.

“But the manager always says it’s about what we do and it’s up to us to get to that level of performance. When we do that then we have the ability to score goals, keep clean sheets, and go on and win games.”

Three league games this week will end with Trophy Day next Saturday at home to Aberdeen, with the Scottish Cup final to look forward to the following weekend.

With big games still to play, the assistant manager is confident that this will inspire the team to continue to perform at their highest levels as they look to fight for a place in the starting XI come kick-off.

He added: “No one’s guaranteed a place in the team. If they’re not performing then someone will be waiting to take their spot for a cup final.

“The first thing that comes is this weekend and we have to put things right and put in a performance and get back to what we expect.

'There’s always that drive and players are stimulated by playing for the club and going out to perform in every game.'

“We still have the final which gives us that stimulus all the way to the end of the season.

“We’re not just playing games out and playing to finish, we want to finish as strong as we can.”
