It is a huge weekend in the SWPL title race, as the Celtic FC Women's team prepare to return to Celtic Park for the second time in just over a week.

Heading into the final game of the SWPL campaign, three teams are fighting it out for the trophy and it is bound to be an exciting day of action.

The Ghirls take on Hearts at Paradise this Sunday, May 21 (KO: 4.10pm) while title rivals, Rangers and Glasgow City, battle it out for three points at Ibrox. If results go Celtic’s way, then the Ghirls will become Champions for the first time in the club's history.

Two people who know all about lifting silverware at Celtic Park are men’s first-team assistant manager, John Kennedy and captain Callum McGregor.

They are both delighted to see the success of the Celtic women’s team, praising the squad for another brilliant season and wishing the Ghirls the best of luck ahead of their title-deciding match on Sunday.

John Kennedy said: “It’s been great to see and it’s great for the club as a whole that we’ve been successful.

“It’s nice to meet Fran at different times and watching on from afar at a squad that’s been able to go and challenge on all fronts.

'They’ve put themselves into a really good position to go and get a league title and that would be a massive achievement.'

“They’ve done great and if you look at the progression of the women’s game and the Celtic team over the last few years then they’ve improved every year.

“Everything’s very positive at the club at the minute but we have to keep our foot on the pedal and keep moving forward in all areas.”

Callum McGregor added: “It will be a tough game for them at the weekend and I’m sure they will attack it in the only way they know how, by playing attacking football.

'That’s the objective for both the men’s and the women’s team to be successful for the football club and the full focus will be on that game.'

"If both teams can win the league then that’s a really successful season for the club.”

A glance at the SWPL table tells you anything can happen. Any of the three can finish top on the day, and with Rangers taking on Glasgow City at Ibrox at the same time as the Ghirls host Hearts at Celtic Park, it makes for a nail-biting day.
