In advance of Celtic's visit to Tynecastle on Sunday, Celtic FC Foundation has announced that it will be making a £7,000 donation to support the work of MND Scotland.

As announced yesterday, Celtic and Hearts will join forces in the battle against Motor Neurone Disease this weekend.

The two teams will compete in front of a capacity crowd at Tynecastle on Sunday afternoon, and prior to the 2.15pm kick-off, both sides will wear special MND Scotland t-shirts during the warm-up.

Celtic’s warm-up shirts will feature the number 7 in honour of the club’s Greatest Ever Celt, Jimmy Johnstone, while former Scottish-Cup winning Hearts captain, Marius Zaliukas will be remembered with the number 26 on the Hearts players’ t-shirts.

Both men lost their lives to Motor Neurone Disease and Sunday’s match aims to raise awareness of the fantastic work MND Scotland do to support those living with the condition as well as their fundraising efforts aimed at finding a cure for the disease.

Sunday’s match will act as Hearts’ annual MND Scotland Day with bucket collectors located outside all entrances to the stadium prior to kick-off, and the home club will also welcome Gregor Miller at half-time as he completes his 51-mile fundraising run from Glasgow to Tynecastle. If they are able to do so, supporters are encouraged to bring change to give to bucket collectors on the day. Alternatively, they can make a donation online via MND Scotland – whose logo adorns the front of the Hearts home shirt - by clicking here.

Celtic also has a long association with the charity and is delighted to offer this support, on a weekend when both clubs will remember two former players who gave so much to their respective clubs.

Celtic FC Foundation CEO, Tony Hamilton said: "We are delighted to make this donation to the work of MND Scotland, an organisation which is fighting so hard in the fight against this terrible condition.

"We hope that activities around the match, with involvement from both sets of players will also add real focus and attention to this hugely important cause."

Player T-shirts from both clubs will be auctioned to support MND Scotland, with further information available in due course.
