Fleetwood Town defender and lifelong Celtic supporter, Shaun Rooney, is the next special guest to be announced for the unique event planned for Thursday, May 18 - A Night With Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig - which is being held at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.

Born in Bellshill, Shaun’s senior career started with Queen's Park and he also had spells at Dunfermline, York City, Queen of the South, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Johnstone, before joining Fleetwood Town on May 25, 2022.

During his time at St Johnstone, he scored the winning goal in the 2021 Scottish League Cup victory over Livingston and then repeated the feat again in the Scottish Cup Final against Hibernian, to complete a historic cup double. Shaun became the fifth player in the 21st century to score in both Scottish domestic cup finals in the same season.

Hailing from a family of Celtic supporters, Shaun’s great grandfather, Bob Rooney, was the Celtic physio during the legendary days of the Lisbon Lions. His uncle, Benny Rooney spent a short time at Celtic as a player and then returned, at Billy McNeill’s request, as Youth Development Office in the late 1980s.

Now playing under the stewardship of former Celtic Captain, Scott Brown, Shaun is enjoying his time at Fleetwood Town and can’t wait for the opportunity to get involved on May 18.

He said: “I’ve never hidden my love for Celtic and the gaffer was an absolute legend of the club and one of my all-time heroes.

“It will be a total honour to be there on the night and I’ll have plenty stories to share - just not sure the gaffer will love them all! The Celtic supporters are second to none and it’s going to be a belter of a night.”
