Although the squad will still be on a massive high after such an incredible performance and result at the Excelsior, their focus is back on the action as the busy fixture schedule rolls on.

Of course, last week’s game will have taken a lot out of the players and Alonso admits he will likely have to make a few changes to his starting 11 against the next opponents.

However, he is looking to see the squad maintain their momentum and levels of performance they have built up recently.

“The most important game is Wednesday,” he said.

“We need to try and get the three points and a good performance, to keep the good momentum. The team has been playing fantastically well, competing very well.

“But we cannot stop and we must carry on working, we have to carry on improving. The games are going to get tougher when we go into the split and we need to be prepared.

“On top of that, we have to balance the squad. We are going to need everyone, and there are some players that lack minutes and some that have played too many minutes.

“We have to balance that, especially in weeks like this when there are three games in just over a week. It’s important to control all of these different factors to make sure the team perform at their best.

“But I couldn’t be any prouder of how the girls are doing.”

A quick glance at the SWPL table would suggest that the Hoops are taking on a side struggling for form, with Accies currently sitting in 11^th place.

However, the New Douglas Park side come into this game off the back of a narrow late 2-1 defeat to Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell.

Fran Alonso won’t be allowing his team to let their standards slip by underestimating this evening’s opponents, and he expects his side to face a tricky test as they eye up another important three points on the road.

He added: “It’s a tricky game. It’s a game that everyone expects us to win, but these can be very difficult, especially when you are on such a high following a massive Glasgow derby.

“It’s can maybe be easy for some of us to lose concentration. But we are making sure that won’t happen.

“Hamilton definitely won’t be underestimated. We watched their game, and if they were a little bit more clinical then they are a dangerous team.

“They won’t be underestimated at all. We are preparing for this game as if it was any other opponent at the top of the table.

“So it’s very important to focus on this game and if we get the three points, then we will focus on the next one.”
