The defender is looking forward to getting another taste of the big occasion when the Ghirls take on Brondby and aim to come away with a victory this time around.

“It’s always an honour to play in such a big competition like the Champions League,” she said.

'Obviously we have had a taste of it before. But we can’t wait to put it right this time round.'

Another player who was part of that squad was young goalkeeper Rachael Johnstone, and like Craig, she can’t wait to have a second bite at Champions League football.

She said: “I am really excited! Obviously, we had that experience two years ago and we showed that we can compete at that level.

“So I am excited to go and prove to everyone that we can do it again."

Having joined the club last summer, Lucy Ashworth-Clifford played her part in helping the Celts back to the biggest stage of European Football.

The 24-year-old fully believes her teammates will put in more big performances, particularly following on from the success of last campaign.

“It just follows on from an amazing last season,” she said.

'We have deserved it, and I am sure the girls are going to go and smash it.'

As a youngster coming through the Academy, playing on the European stage will be an incredible moment in the early stages of Maria McAneny’s career at Paradise.

The midfielder is looking forward to getting back to work ahead of the new season as the Hoops aim to build on their Scottish Cup triumph and insists the squad are all excited about the prospect of Champions League football.

She said: “I think all of us are buzzing, but especially for me, this will be my first time playing in the competition and being away with the girls in the Champions League

'It just that bit extra special. You dream about playing in the Champions League, so we are all buzzing.'

“We just want to continue getting better. Hopefully, we can try to aim for more trophies this season and try to have a good run in the Champions League.

“I know what the girls are like, we will be determined to do that.”

McAneny: We can’t wait to play on the Champions League stage
