After achieving a second placed finish in the SWPL last campaign, Celtic FC Women are preparing to enter the UEFA Champions League for the second time in the club’s history.

Taking part in the competition for the first time in 2020/21, the Hoops put up a good fight, but ultimately suffered defeat at the hands of Levante, before losing out to ZFK Minsk in the third-placed play-off during the first round of qualifying.

This season, the Ghirls will enter the Champions League at the same stage as they aim to be one of 16 teams taking part in the group stages of the prestigious competition.

Before thinking about that stage of the tournament, though, Fran Alonso and his squad would need to navigate two rounds of qualification.

How the draw works

Entering as part of the League Path, the Celts will be drawn into a four team group, which will be played as two semi-finals

The winner of the one-legged semi-final ties will then face off in the final, with a place in the second round of qualifying up for grabs, whilst both losing teams will also take part in a third-placed play-off.

With the draw taking place tomorrow (Friday 30) at 12pm the Hoops will enter as one of eight unseeded teams and will be drawn against one of the seeded sides for their semi-final tie (full list of possible opponents provided below)

The semi-final ties will take place on September 6, with the final and third placed matches taking place just three days later.
