Celtic’s squad has already been used to plenty of success in the green and white this season, but in the recent round of international fixtures, there was more to celebrate for some of the first-team.

All eyes in Scotland were on the national team’s clash away to Norway in the European Championship Qualifiers on Saturday night, and with Callum McGregor in the heart of midfield, the Scots produced a late comeback to win 2-1 in Oslo.

Greg Taylor was an unused substitute in the historic win in the Norwegian capital, and they will look to make it four wins from four in the qualification process when they face Georgia at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.

The first Celts in action in the international break were the Japanese trio of Reo Hatate, Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda in Japan’s clash with El Salvador in the Kirin Cup.

Maeda was an unused substitute while Reo Hatate played the full 90 minutes, however, it was Kyogo who ran away with the headlines, coming off the bench to score in the 6-0 win. They host Peru next on Tuesday morning.

Carl Starfelt was back in Sweden's team, earning his first cap since February 2022, playing the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 friendly win over New Zealand, with Euro qualifying action up next with a trip to Austria on Tuesday night.

Another starter was Liel Abada as the winger helped Israel earn a very late 2-1 away victory over Belarus on Friday night, with a home match against Andorra tonight (Monday).

Sead Haksabanovic was on duty with Montenegro, coming off the bench in a 0-0 home draw against Hungary on Saturday night in the qualifiers. Next up is another home clash with the Czech Republic, although this match is just a friendly between the sides.

There were a couple of players that were unfortunate to be on the losing side of things over the weekend.

First of all, Alistair Johnston started as Canada reached the Concacaf Nations League final, defeating Panama 2-0, but in the final, the Canadians lost by the same score-line to the USA in Las Vegas.

Hyeongyu Oh’s form for Celtic earned him a start for the South Korean team, but again they fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Peru, but he has a chance to put things right in another home friendly against El Salvador on Tuesday.

Finally, Conor Hazard was on the bench for Northern Ireland who were so close to earning a last-minute 1-1 Euro qualifier draw away to Denmark but for their equaliser being ruled out for a marginal offside call.
