Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, he said: "The important thing is that we progressed to the next round which is great.

'I thought it was a solid performance from the lads and we worked hard and scored some good goals.'

"The attitude was good and professional and I'm pleased all around."

The Celtic fans left Paradise fully in the mood for Mooy with his song heard throughout the concourses as they shuffled out into Glasgow's East End.

The Australian has been in immense form since the World Cup, although it's form that has not been a shock to his former national team manager.

He added: "He's got a cracking song but you wouldn't know it looking at him.

'He's been fantastic since the World Cup and I'm probably the least surprised out of anyone because I knew what I was getting when I brought him in and I thought it was an unbelievable opportunity for us to bring a quality player in.'

"Once he found his fitness I knew he would be a key contributor and it's not just his work off the ball, he's a goal threat and I'm pleased for him."

What was also pleasing about the afternoon's work is that it was a chance to see Tomoki Iwata for the first time in a Hoops jersey, with B team player Bosun Lawal also coming on for his debut.

"Most of the lads have had decent game time but for the likes of David Turnbull and Yuki Kobayashi getting 90 minutes was good," said the manager.

"At half-time getting Tomoki Iwata and Sead Haksabanovic on, who has not played a lot of football, was important.

"I know Tomoki well and I have no fears about throwing him in. At the moment he's still building up his fitness and I think once he gets that up and running he will be a good contributor.

"It was good for Bosun Lawal to get on as well because he's been working hard with the first-team, so it's always pleasing when they get a taste of that atmosphere."
