“I’ve played there a few times but it’s still what you look forward to. As the manager said you get to a semi-final and the National Stadium and have all the fans turning up, so we were delighted to send them home happy and get into the final.

“Cup competitions are one-off games so no matter if you’re playing teams in divisions below, the games can sometimes be difficult compared to league games.

“You always have to make sure everyone is on it every game, especially in cup games where one bad decision can go the wrong way and it’s about everyone sticking together and making sure you get into the next round.

“It was a difficult game on a difficult pitch and it makes it better for us that we still managed to get into the final when the pitch wasn’t great, so we can take positives from that.

'The final is five weeks away and we have a lot of important games before then and the manager has already said that it’s done.'

“We’re delighted to be in the final but it’s put aside until then.

“We have loads of important games until the cup final and I’m sure a few days before people will start getting excited about it, for now, there are more important things.”

The next big task is the visit of St Mirren at Celtic Park on Wednesday night in the league as the Hoops look to maintain their incredible domestic home run under Ange Postecoglou.

The Buddies have proven to be tricky opponents for Celtic already this season, beating the Hoops in Paisley in September, and they have been in fine form throughout the league campaign, so Forrest and the rest of the squad know it will be no easy task to claim three points at Paradise.

He added: “Fair play to St Mirren, they’ve done really well this season and have a great home record, but it’s a different game because that (last game) was a few months ago.

“For the team we have out tomorrow, I don’t think that game will be in the back of anyone’s heads, especially because the manager won’t let that happen.

'No matter who we’re playing, if it’s a Champions League, cup or league game, he makes sure everyone is ready to go and does what he expects from us to play'

“Credit to St Mirren and the way they play because they’ve managed to get results from it.

“That’s the way they play and it worked against us at the start of the season but we know if we play our way then that’s all we can do and we will try and get the three points that way.”
