Bruno Davidson gave Celtic the lead inside the first two minutes, but he was forced to go off soon after that after picking up a knock.

McManus said: "We are disappointed for Bruno after going off injured. We spoke to him a lot during the week and for the last couple of weeks about his positioning as a winger, and getting in off the opposite side.

“Some of the runs he has been making in the last couple of weeks have maybe not been the right choice of runs. So we spoke to him about that during the week.

“You can see the reward that he then gets. He listens to what you are trying to say.

'So it was a really good start to the game, really positive. A really fast start, which is what we are all about.'

It has been a very busy season for the Celtic B team, competing in a whole host of competitions. McManus believes the players have bought into that this season, and that is evident in their performances.

“We spoke about it before the campaign, that it was going to potentially be 50-odd games," he said

“At this stage in their development, it’s difficult to get that amount of games into them because your body needs to get used to going Saturday/Tuesday or Saturday/Wednesday.

“When you play at a club like ours, you need to relentless in everything that you do. So you need to be dedicated away from the football club because you need to rest and you need to recover.

“With the amount of games that we are playing, it challenges the boys and they have bought into that this year really well. We are in the home straight, and hopefully we can finish the season strongly.”
