It was the perfect start to the new campaign for Celtic FC Women and Kit Loferski, who scored four goals in a 9-0 win over Montrose.

The American forward kicked off the season in style, grabbing a first-half hat-trick, before rounding off the scoring in the closing stages of the game.

Reacting to the team’s performance post-match, Loferski said she was happy with the overall performance as the Ghirls sealed all three points at Links Park.

She said: “It was good to be back out there and it was an enjoyable game. We were able to create a lot of opportunities for ourselves.

'We performed really well as a team. We kept the ball out of our net, and scored nine, which is great.'

“So it was a great start. It’s a long season, so we will move on from this game and keep pushing on to the next one.”

It only took three minutes for the striker to open her account for the 2023/24 season, before following the early goal up with a further three strikes.

Although Loferski was happy to be on the scoresheet once again, she believes she could have had even more of an impact in front of goal.

“I was happy with my performance and to grab four goals,” she said. “I am not super satisfied but goals are goals, regardless if they are pretty or not.

“I can here, did my job, which is what I am expected to do and we got the win. So I am happy overall.”

After putting in hard work throughout pre-season, Loferski and her teammates were rewarded with an impressive victory.

The striker believes the squad are reaping the benefits of that hard work, which was evident by today’s performance.

“There is definitely more of a fluidity to our play after all the hard work in pre-season," the American said. "We are now starting to find our grove.

'It’s so much fun being out there and playing with this squad.'

“The girls are top talents, and I am really just lucky to be here to play with them and learn as much as I can.

“So it was good to contribute today, and good to celebrate the win afterwards.

“Towards the end of the season it may come down to goal difference, so it is always good to score as many as we can.”
