Celtic FC Women maintained their fantastic run of form with a 3-0 victory over Hibernian at the Excelsior Stadium today (Sunday).

The Hoops put in dominant display against the Edinburgh side, with goals from Amy Gallacher, Chloe Craig and Tash Flint helping the Ghirls on their way to another important three points.

Fran Alonso's side made their intent clear from the first whistle and were dominant in possession during the opening period of the match.

And it didn’t take long for the Ghirls to make their early dominance count as Amy Gallacher opened the scoring just before the 20-minute mark.

The former Hibernian forward started the season off at the Excelsior Stadium with two goals against her former club, and she was once again on hand to notch her 16th league goal of the campaign.

Picking up the ball on the edge of the area, the 24-year-old smashed an effort into the top corner of the net, giving Hibs goalkeeper Benedicte Haaland no chance.

Following the opening goal of the game, Celtic were quickly pushing to add a second in the first 45 minutes.

Both Kit Loferski and Tash Flint worked some good openings, and Gallacher came desperately close to adding her second of the game, striking the post from a free-kick.

As the half-time whistle approached, the Hoops grabbed the all-important second and it was Chloe Craig who doubled Celtic’s advantage. A brilliant delivery into the box by Gallacher from a corner found the head of the defender, who jumped highest to nod the ball into the back of the net.

After finishing off the first half in perfect style, Celtic continued that momentum into the second half and inside a minute of the restart they had a third goal.

Pressing the Hibernian backline from kick-off, Tash Flint did brilliantly to close down Haaland between the sticks and managed to get on the end of her short backpass.

The on-loan Leicester City striker made no mistake with her finish, tucking the ball underneath the Norwegian and into the bottom corner.

With the three points all but wrapped up, Alonso and his coaching staff were able to make several changes at the break and early into the second half, with the Hoops’ busy fixture schedule at the back of their minds.

Celtic continued to press on in the hunt for a fourth goal, and Loferski created a nice opening which almost led to an opportunity, but her cross into the box just couldn’t find one of her team-mates

After being introduced to the game in the second half, Jacynta was also causing trouble for the Hibs backline and in the dying stages she struck the outside of the post with what looked like a finish that was destined for the far corner.

Although another goal wouldn’t come Celtic’s way, the Ghirls still took home all three points with an impressive display against the side from the capital.

Next up is another home fixture for the Hoops, as they take on Rangers at the Excelsior Stadium this Thursday evening.
