“When you step out of Academy football, the external factors of a game are vital, so playing with no people is completely different to thousands of people watching.

'The more fans we can have and the more we can replicate what the first team go through then the better for the players and their experience and development.'

“I fully understand Celtic fans follow the first-team everywhere around the world and give phenomenal support, but if they have the chance to get down and support our young players it would be very much appreciated.”

The UEFA Youth League is an Under-19s competition and mirrors the Bhoys’ Champions League Group F, which has pitched the Hoops alongside Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig.

Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus will lead the Celtic side in this competition, which allows for the inclusion of up to three U20 players.
