Celtic Soccer Academy are delighted to kick-off the countdown to their annual International Coaches Convention in 2023 with a special coach education taster evening at Lennoxtown in just one week’s time.

You can secure your place online now for the ‘Counterpressing’ event on Tuesday, November 1 which will be hosted by Celtic’s U18s manager, Stuart McLaren.

Held at the club’s Lennoxtown Training Centre, the event runs from 6pm until 9pm and, in partnership with the Scottish FA, is open to all.

For those with UEFA/Scottish FA License holders, this event is recognised and will provide 3hrs of CPD.

Counterpressing is a key theme of defensive play throughout Celtic’s squads and key points that will be discussed at the event include;

The difference between pressing and counterpressing
Key principles of counterpressing
Designing sessions to implement counterpressing

The night will kick off with a short networking session followed by a theoretical presentation by Stuart McLaren.

Following this, those attending will head outdoors to the training pitch for a practical session where spectators will be able to see some of the methods used by Stuart to implement the counterpress with the U18 team.
