After scoring a goal and providing an assist in the 4-0 midweek win over Dundee United after coming off the bench, Tegan Bowie admitted that it's given her a massive confidence boost.

And the Celtic attacker also credited manager, Fran Alonso's backing in maintaining belief in her own ability.

Bowie was only on the pitch for six minutes before she swung a corner in for fellow sub Caitlin Hayes to nod home before she scored a wonderful solo goal, going on a dazzling run and dispatching her effort high into the far top corner.

And while the 19-year-old has not enjoyed as much game-time as last season, she was delighted to make a contribution and hopes it can help her kick on.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, Tegan Bowie said: “It’s been a tough start to the season for myself not playing as many minutes as I did last year, but it's good Fran has the belief in me that I can come on and make an impact and hopefully this will be the uprise of myself."

And she admitted that the Hoops’ fine form makes it easy for players to come off the bench.

"It takes the pressure off me and just allows me to go and play and try impact the game as much as possible and do what I did and try and enjoy it,” she said.

Now attention turns to the League Cup and this Sunday's quarter-final tie at home to Spartans, with the cup holders determined to keep hold of the trophy they won last season, along with the Scottish Cup.

“There’s a wee bit of pressure due to us winning it last year, but I don’t see why we couldn’t go and win it again with the team we have," Bowie said. "It’ll be tough, though. Spartans are a tough side and it’ll be a fight but hopefully it’ll be okay and we’ll come out on top.”
