Celtic FC Women's manager Fran Alonso was delighted to see his side continue their unbeaten start to the season as they beat Dundee United 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Early goals from Jacynta and Clarissa Larisey put the Hoops in control of the game, while there were later goals from substitutes, Caitlin Hayes and Tegan Bowie.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Celtic boss said: "We knew it would be difficult. Dundee United are aggressive and well-organised but the start was fantastic.

'I think after the second goal we forced it way too much, but then in the second half and with the changes, the team were outstanding and we could’ve scored a few more goals.'

“Any game where you create chances and don’t score, you're in danger of getting frustrated and that happened at the weekend against Glasgow Women. When you have all of the ball and they defend with so many bodies we get frustrated until the first goal comes, but against Dundee United that didn’t happen.”

The Celtic manager was also pleased with the impact his substitutes made on the game, and he knows the full squad will be called upon throughout the campaign.

“I said before that it's all about the squad," he said. "We rely on every individual and we depend on players to make an impact when they get the minutes.

"Against Dundee United, two players that didn’t start the game came on and made a massive impact, not only with their the goals, and that’s what they are about.

“In the case of Tegan we are especially happy. She obviously played many games last season and this year she is fighting against other quality players in that position so it’s more difficult for her to get minutes, but she is working very, very hard, so when she scored we were all delighted for her because of how hard she worked and she totally deserved it.

“Hopefully it will be good for her confidence and have a positive impact for her because we really trust her."
