Following Celtic FC Women’s 0-0 draw away to league leaders Rangers, goalkeeper Pamela Tajonar hailed the team’s mentality.

The former Barcelona stopper produced a Player of the Match performance with a string of impressive saves.

And speaking to Celtic TV after the game, she said: “I’m just so happy that the team played like we planned. It was a fantastic effort defensively and we knew Rangers would have the ball a lot and we were so well composed and strong defensively.

“I think that’s the biggest part of the game for us, but we also got some chances and that was a good thing. I think we did pretty well and I’m just looking forward to keep building with this team and this will definitely help us be better and get stronger.”

The Celts have now recorded 10 clean-sheets in 11 SWPL matches so far this season, and becoming the first side to keep Rangers out can help build more confidence in this squad, Tajonar said, who also explained how the team can take belief from their ability to adapt and perform under different circumstances and in different styles.

“It’s a fantastic team effort defensively,” she said, “and we got a lot of runs from the back, a lot of challenges won and that speaks really well of us.

“That’s one of the best parts of the team – we can adapt and play different positions and against different teams with different game planes.

“It’s great to know we can do it, and you never know when you can use one of each of our styles of play and it’s good to have those options.”
