“Come and watch us”, was the message from midfielder Natalie Ross, who said fans won’t be disappointed as the Celts look forward to getting back to action and target a return to winning ways against Hearts this Sunday.

With men’s football on pause for the World Cup, fans are encouraged to get their Celtic fix through the club’s women’s team, and stalwart Ross believes noisy Celtic fans played their part in their season opening rout against Hibernian at the Excelsior.

She said: “Come and watch us - sometimes people have a negative opinion about women’s football, but until you try it and come and watch you won’t know.

“We play some attractive, attacking football and that was seen in our first game of the season when we beat Hibs 9-0 with a great support then, so I’d encourage every Celtic fan to come and watch the women’s team I don’t think they’ll be disappointed.”

The Celts are back in SWPL action this weekend following the international break and having signed off with a disappointing defeat to Glasgow City, Ross told the media that the group have used the time wisely and are raring to get back on the horse.

She added: “Initially there was disappointment especially after the Glasgow City defeat, but those couple of weeks came at a good time for us to regroup.

‘We’ve had a great couple of weeks training, a great friendly and the internationalists are re-joining us now.’

“So for a disappointing couple of weeks I believe we’ve managed to pick ourselves up really, really well and we can’t wait for the game on Sunday.”
