After putting early season injury woes behind her, Amy Gallacher is all eyes forward now, as the summer signing reflected on her start to life at Celtic and the challenges that lie ahead.

Joining the Celts from the beginning of pre-season, the Dundonian enjoyed a dream debut scoring a double against her previous club. Hibernian, and went on to cement her place in the starting eleven as Celtic went on a nine-game unbeaten stretch. And despite suffering their first disappointing results of the season before the international break, Gallacher shared her confidence that the team can return to winning ways.

“I’ve really enjoyed it. I had a good pre-season, a great start to the season and the team have been playing really well, winning games and performing well. We’ve had a blip the past couple of weeks but apart from that the team has been playing well,” she told Celtic TV.

The 23-year-old’s positive impact in her new setting drew to a halt as injury and illness took their toll, but having worked her way back into Fran Alonso’s starting eleven for the trip to Glasgow City in the most recent match, the forward said she is keeping her head down targeting personal and team success over the next few weeks.

She said: ”It was very frustrating - it was one thing after another injury-wise and I had Covid as well, so I just needed to focus on getting back and I’m fully fit now, so I’m just raring to go and looking forward to competing to get a place in the team for the next games.

“Personally, I’m just looking to stay fully fit and being available to play at the weekend, playing as much as I can and helping the team.

‘It is a busy period so we need to get as many points as we can and get back to winning games.’

“We had a blip but it's been a couple of weeks now and we’ve had a few friendlies so I think we need to get the team back performing well, how we know we can, and we have Hearts and Rangers where we need to pick up maximum points so I think the team are raring to go.”
