Speaking to Celtic TV after the 1-1 draw with Dundee United, Starfelt said: “It’s unbelievable, this is what we aim for the whole season, it was our goal to get there and we made it happen.

“It’s a proud moment for all the players, staff, fans and our families as well so I couldn’t have asked for more.

'It’s a mentality you have to develop when you play for Celtic. It comes from the staff and the demands from the fans, you have to go out and win every week.'

“It’s something that I’ve improved a lot since I’ve come and I’m sure the guys will say the same that they have this winning mentality.”

Starfelt’s debut was one to forget as he was ushered straight in for a league defeat at Hearts just days after arriving in Glasgow.

It was the start of a difficult opening period for the club in their ambition to regain the title, losing three of the first six league games, but that start makes the title win ever more special for the 27-year-old and to do it with the backing of the fans.

He added: “We had a little bit of a rough start, we had a lot of new players but we have such good personalities and a very good leader in the manager and the people in the dressing room and everyone has contributed.

“It’s been a tough journey and we have worked really hard and now we can look back on this season as a successful one and we have enjoyed the journey as well, so I’m delighted.

“It’s been amazing, they’ve been incredible all season, especially in the away games they’ve been so good, they’ve been unbelievable all season.

“In the beginning when we had some tough games they were always supporting us, so they’ve been great.”
