Celtic FC Women are through to their second cup final of the season after beating Hearts 2- 0 with an extra-time double from the club’s top goalscorer, Charlie Wellings.

Despite the attacking threat of Celtic, Hearts were able to hold on and take Fran Alonso's side to extra-time after a goalless 90 minutes, athough the Hoops deservedly won out in the end.

The Hoops came close to an opener in the first minute when the ball was played wide to Jodie Bartle. She crossed it in and Wellings flicked it on to Jacynta, but her shot went wide.

The opening 10 minutes were full of opportunities for Celtic, with Hearts goalkeeper, Charlotte Parker-Smith being kept busy. Chloe Craig came agonisingly close to opening the scoring, but her close-range effort came back off the bar and was scrambled clear.

Wellings had several chances in the first-half, including a couple of powerful strikes, while there was a scramble in the box from a dangerous Tyler Toland corner, but Hearts continued to keep the Hoops at bay.

There was a similar story in the second half, with most of the play taking place deep in the Hearts half. Chloe Craig set up Liv Chance, but she couldn't direct her effort on target, and while Fran Alonso's side kept pressing forward they could not get the breakthrough in the 90 minutes.

Shen Mengyu had a great chance in the third minute of extra-time, but her low effort clipped the post.

However, Celtic's perseverence paid off three minutes into the second period of extra-time when Wellings fired home the opener, and then, just two minutes later, the striker scored again to book Celtic's place in the final at Tynecastle on May 29.
