Following the wonderful success of our recent Famine Memorial shirt auction, Celtic FC Foundation is delighted to confirm that, through our Walfrid’s Wish monthly giving scheme, existing and new donors will now have an opportunity win one of these very special shirts.

As part of our latest Walfrid’s Wish prize draw, one lucky supporter will win Yosuke Ideguchi’s signed match issue Famine Memorial shirt from the final home match of the season, against Motherwell on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The shirt will be provided in a presentation box and will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Unquestionably, The Great Hunger (An Gorta Mór) was a transforming event in Ireland, which changed the demographic and cultural landscape forever. Indeed, there is nothing else in the history of the Irish people that can be likened to The Great Hunger, either for its immediate impact, or its legacy of emigration, cultural loss and decline of the Irish language.

As a Scottish club established in 1887 with such proud Irish roots, Celtic will always be linked to these tragic events.

Sadly, food poverty continues to be a problem in 2022 and regular donations received via our Walfrid’s Wish initiative play a vital part, as we aim to tackle this issue, particularly at a time when so many people are facing such challenging circumstances.

The draw will be made on Friday, July 1, 2022 and all existing and new Walfrid’s Wish donors who have registered by midnight on Thursday, June 30, 2022, will be entered into the draw. All entrants will be subject to the prize draw Terms and Conditions. The winner will be announced on Monday, July 4, 2022 and we will contact the winner directly to arrange collection or delivery of the shirt.

If you are already making a regular Walfrid’s Wish donation then you need do nothing more, you will simply be entered automatically in the draw.
