“They had an idea to sit in and try and frustrate us and we had to rely on Tobi Oluwayemi for one big moment early on in the game.

“The key message at half-time was to stick to what we’re about and the players stuck to that.

'The challenge of having an extra man is when you don’t score that naturally, players break off into their instinct, but these players stuck to what we wanted to do.'

“At half-time, we spoke about a few things but ultimately the players on the pitch will decide what to do and I thought they were excellent and it gave us a chance to go on and win the game.

“We will always look back on every game. There will be a minimum of 50 games this season which is fantastic for these young players to go and show what they’re about.

“Today was a decent performance, but we can be and we will be better."

In terms of moments in the game, captain and left-back Matthew Anderson grabbed two stunning goals to help the team towards the three points.

But one of the biggest moments came in the first period, as Oluwayemi made a world-class stop on 10 minutes to stop the visitors from taking the lead before they then had a man sent off just nine minutes later.

Speaking about those moments, O’Dea said: “The save was huge, that’s what he’s there for, he’s very highly rated.

“He had one big moment and he made the save and it was fantastic and he deserves a lot of credit.

'Sometimes as a Celtic keeper you don’t have much to do in a game, so he can be happy.'

“Anderson is someone I’ve known since I came back into the club and he has the heart of a lion.

“That’s not what I expect from him in terms of goals, but his performance was really good and he will keep getting better alongside all the players.

“There’s a lot I will look back on and think we can do better and as we go we will look for big improvement.”
