Ange Postecoglou revelled in the atmosphere created by the Banik Ostrava fans who joyously celebrated their centenary game despite falling to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Celts.

And aside from creating a perfect competitive background for his players in the continuing build-up to the start of the season, it has also whetted his appetite even more for the return to Paradise this Saturday as the Celtic crowd welcome the champions home again to meet Blackburn Rovers.

He told Celtic TV as the Banik Ostrava crowd continued to pump up the post-match party: “It was a cracking atmosphere, they’re still going and obviously it was a big occasion for the club, and great for us to be a part of it.

“Again, it gave the feel of a real contest and it was a great exercise for our guys. The game was okay, we started a bit slow and in general we were a bit sloppy with our passing, but on the flipside of that our good moments were really good, and, again, it's another good game for us.

“I think it’s important, especially for us. Obviously in pre-season we don’t have any competitive games, and I didn’t want to play just friendly games, particularly if they’re not played in main stadiums in front of crowds, I think it loses a little bit.

‘So the last two games have been perfect – we hit Celtic Park on Saturday, so it’s been a great build-up so far.’

“I’m buzzing, it’s great to hear these guys sing, but our guys will bring it to another level.”
