The Austrian training camp has been a hectic period for the Celtic players as the manager has put the Bhoys through their paces in preparation for the new season.

Pre-season games have been sandwiched in between intense double training sessions, all done in the hope of improving on the league and League Cup double-winning campaign last year.

With UEFA Champions League football coming back to Celtic Park, fans throughout the world are excited about the prospect of what this season will hold, something that’s shared by Callum McGregor.

Speaking on the first episode of Celtic TV’s ‘Walk On With’, the captain opened up about life in the training camp, building for next season and the return of Europe’s top competition.

On the training camp:

“There was a lot of uncertainty at the start of last season and we weren’t sure what direction we were going in.

“There were a lot of new players that joined and when you come back in now then there’s continuity and the manager can implement his message in terms of the way he wants the team to train and play.

“12 months on, we are definitely in a better place continuity wise and the players are starting to settle in as a group.

“Training has been intense and the camp has been good to have more conversations with boys and find out more about what motivates them.”

On the new season:

“Last season, that success is great and we’ve banked it, but it’s over now.

“Everyone starts at zero points, it’s now about what you do next and bettering your own game and collectively getting stronger.

“You have the excitement of a new season to spur you on and the challenge is there to be champions and retain the league.”
