He said: “The break’s been good. It’s been a mini pre-season so it’s been great to get some serious work done.

“You don’t really get the chance to get proper training during the season because we’ve had so many games, so it’s been a great time to get some training in.

“The new signings have settled in really well. They all have fantastic work ethic but that’s something all of our signings have had.

“The more quality and work ethic we have will only improve us as a squad.

'My Japanese definitely needs some work, luckily the lads are trying their best with English, so that’s helped.'

“They’re all good additions to the squad and will help us improve over the next few months of the season.”

Taylor himself missed a large chunk of the first six months through injury but did recover in time for last month’s League Cup final win over Monday’s visitors.

With games under his belt since returning and now a strong training camp, the 24-year-old is raring to get going.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “It was good to get back for the final as it was a long period I was out.

“I’ve had a good chance to build my fitness and I’m feeling good and ready to attack the next few months.”
