The former Poland striker spent three years at Celtic from 1989 to 1992 and was most remembered for the topsy-turvy tie against Partizan, as well as marking his Glasgow derby debut with a goal.

In this episode, he recalls how his move to Celtic came around after almost joining Inter Milan the year before, his memories of the European clash against Partizan and his favourite moments at the club.

Dziekanowski also recalls his time working as an assistant manager with the Polish national team where he worked alongside former Celts, Maciej Zurawski and Artur Boruc.

Recalling that game against Partizan Belgrade when the Celts exited the European Cup-Winners’ Cup on away goals in 1989 after the 5-4 win at Celtic Park, he said: “It was a crazy game and we had no idea if we were through or not at the end of the match.

'After the game, I couldn’t smile, but I couldn’t cry. I was happy as an individual to score four goals, but there was no value to it because we didn’t get into the next round.'

“I was so sure we would score another goal. It was 5-3 and in the last minute we went 2v1 on the goalkeeper and if the ball was squared to me it would have been 6-3, but they went up and made it 5-4 straight away.

“It was a day where I felt like I could do anything, I scored four different goals and set up the other one, but still to this day I just keep living with the regret that I couldn’t score five goals to send us through.”
