The Celtic Women's team head to Edinburgh this Sunday for what they know will be a difficult league game against Spartans.

The last time the sides met back in October last year, the game finished 2-2, so Fran Alonso's side know they will have to be at their best if they want to return home with all three points.

Goalkeeper Chloe Logan played in that game, when Charlie Wellings netted a last-gasp equaliser for the Hoops, and she's expecting another tough test at Ainslie Park this Sunday (KO: 1pm).

Speaking ahead of the game, the 25-year-old said: "Spartans will be sore from knowing that they were really close to beating us last time. Both of their goals were well-taken in our last meeting, but from my point of view very preventable.

'So it’s about learning from moments like that and trying to restrict their chances as few as possible and not to repeat mistakes or misjudgements we had in the past, not only against Spartans but against other teams as well.'

"Spartans are also on the back of a 3-0 loss to Motherwell, and it’s really tight at the bottom half of the table so they are going to be fighting for every point that is available."

Sunday's game against Spartans kicks off a busy schedule of fixtures for the Hoops, with an away game against Glasgow City next Thursday followed by a Glasgow derby Scottish Cup tie against Rangers on Sunday, February 13.

But Chloe Logan insists that the focus within the squad is solely on Sunday's league clash with Spartans.

“We appreciate that the next 10 days are going to be hard," she said. "We know that and understand that, but we are not looking any further than Spartans at the minute.”

The bigger target for the Hoops, of course, is securing Champions League football and trying to win another trophy to add to the League Cup they won at the end of last year.

And Logan, who also has a master’s degree of science in sports management, as well as being a professional footballer, said that the trophy triumph has made the Celtic squad hungry for further success.

“Winning the League Cup before Christmas was my first senior trophy at the club and a lot of the girls' first senior trophy," she said.

'Once you get a taste of something like that you want it again, so I’m excited for the last part of the season because I believe we can go and achieve something.'

“We want to be playing in the Champions League again this year and we know that, to do that, we have to go unbeaten for the rest of the season but, saying that, on our day we are capable of beating anyone.”

And Logan also believes that the recent addition of a third goalkeeper into the squad with the signing of Anna Vincenti can only benefit her and fellow goalkeeper, Rachael Johnstone.

“It was unplanned that both myself and Rachael were unavailable for different reasons," she said, "but the benefit of that is we now have a third goalkeeper in the squad and that’s only going to make training better.

“I’m excited to get Anna involved in training, I’ve worked with her before so I know what she is capable of.”
