A busy schedule of football awaits the Celtic team as they complete their third game of the week with the home tie against St Johnstone this Saturday on Christmas Eve.

After two tough tests were navigated with all six points to show for in games against Aberdeen and Livingston, the Hoops will be hoping to make it nine points against the Saints in the festive fixture.

After a 2-1 victory on Wednesday over Livingston, the manager says he’s hoping for a better performance on Saturday and will be looking to rotate the squad.

Asked about rotating the team, he said: “I think that’s fair in how busy (the schedule is), but also based on performance.

“If guys aren’t performing at the levels they can, there’s some pretty good players not getting some game-time and training hard which is why we have a squad.

“You have to reward that at some point and that coupled with the fact you have a busy schedule then we will make some changes for the St Johnstone game.

'In the context of everything, every game is important, it’s about making sure we’re constantly evolving and progressing as a team.'

“We can’t stand still and rely on the fact that we’ve had some decent results and think that it’s going to move on.

“Every game you need to be at it and on top of your game and that’s what’s got us to the position we are today.

“We haven’t done that by looking too far ahead or worrying about what’s happened before, it’s about what’s in front of us and that’s what we need to keep going.”
