While both Kyogo and Abada laid claim to a match ball for their respective trebles, the Hoops boss also praised their work ethic in the game, while also welcoming another clean sheet.

'The pleasing thing for me is that they (Kyogo and Abada) worked really hard on the stuff that we expect our attacking players to do.'

"And because of that, they get the reward of scoring goals and assisting goals.

“I thought our whole front half of the team was excellent today, not just with the quality of the goals we scored but also the work that they put in defensively and harassing the opponent by not giving them time to relax, and it was great for both of them to get their rewards for that.

“The quality of our goals was good because it’s stuff that we work on constantly, and it means that the players are really disciplined and focused on their positions and making sure they’re always in the right areas rather than just chasing goals any way they come, so that will be really pleasing.

“We weren’t tested too much, although Joe pulled off a great save at the start and he showed enormous bravery to throw himself at the opposition’s feet.

“They’re the kind of things which keep you sharp and make sure that, if the opposition do get an opportunity like that, then we’ve got somebody in the goal. And our back four in general I thought were very good in sniffing out that danger.”

The Celtic players will have enjoyed their afternoon’s work at Tannadice, but it’s just the start of what will be a very busy schedule between now and the break in November for the World Cup, with domestic and European demands on the horizon.

That begins this Wednesday night when Celtic kick off their defence of the League Cup with a trip to the Highlands to take on Ross County.

“Ross County will be a tough opponent in the cup so we’ll have to be ready for it,” the manager said. “And the pleasing thing is that we had contributions again from the bench, which is important.

“We’re going to have to rotate the squad during this period so it’s good to know that the majority of them are in good condition and ready to go.”
