Last Sunday’s performance from Celtic FC Women was a day to remember for reasons both on and off the pitch. Not only did Fran Alonso’s side knock nine past Hibernian, they did so in front of hundreds of fans at their home ground.

Reflecting on a spectacular opening day, captain Kelly Clark underlined the importance of a strong home support:

She said: “It was amazing to see so many fans there on Sunday. We said it last year and it was proven true again - we perform at our best when we have people to impress.”

Having started her football journey in a time where the women’s game was less visible, Kelly often emphasises how special it feels to be a role model for the next generation as she and the team continue to create a lasting legacy at the club.

She added: “As a group of players so privileged to play for such a big club, we want to inspire young boys and girls who dream of pulling on our famous Hoops and we want to entertain those who have supported for years

‘We can’t describe how it feels to see our names on the back of fans’ tops now.’

“We hope they enjoyed Sunday and we thank them for your support. We are always grateful, had a great day and we loved seeing them there.”
